Lieutenant General Asim Munir has been appointed as the 11th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army after the retirement of General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
 

According to the details, Lieutenant General Asim Munir will perform the duties of the most important post of the country after being promoted to the rank of full general.

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been named the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), the highest-ranking and highest-ranking military post on paper.

 


Six contenders for promotion to the COAS level as well as the names recommended for the CJCSC were included in a summary sent by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) to the Prime Minister's (PM) Office.

According to reports, the names of lieutenant generals were included in the summary based on their seniority and performance.

 


Additionally, the newly appointed COAS will formally assume office on November 29, the same day the current COAS, General Bajwa, will hang up his uniform after completing his six-year tenure.
